I think you should be fine. Apart from this scenario on the other extreme you could start working for the new company with just the receipt number as well. You dont need to wait for the approval to start working for the new company.

I am planning to start working for a new company starting June. I was wondering If I can start H1B visa transfer to the new company via premium processing(hopefully will get approved in 2-3 weeks) and continue to work for the current employer and get paid till the end of May, even the though the transfer would have been approved in the end of April.

Is it possible to get F1 status adjusted to H1 without going for a H1 stamping?
Yes. If you have your H1-B approval notice with a start date, say Feb 1, 2008, and I-94 cards with it, then you will automatically be on H1-B from Feb 1, 2008 (assuming that you have valid F-1 status still Jan 31, in this example. OPT is F-1 status).
If your H1-B approval came without I-94 cards, then you need to go out of the country to adjust status.

Samething happened to me. On 11/25/2007 i saw a LUD on my approved I-140 (which was approved in Dec, 2006). And then LUD on 12/06/2007 and 12/07/2007 on I-485 for both self and spouse.
Not sure what it could be?? I filed I-485/EAD/AP in late July, 2007. Have received EAD and have done finger printing. Have not received AP yet. Filing Center in Nebraska. My PD is October, 2005, EB3 ROW.

With the D100 now carrying a street price of $1499 from legitimate dealers...things are looking mighty nice as the price of admission for quality gear keeps going down.
There are regular refurb D100 for $1,199 on the market recently.
If you want the best value for money, the E+ rated, at Adorama now, 35-70/2.8 AF-D and 80-200/2.8 AF-D are the best buy in town. I always tempted to get them to add a few zooms to my primes.
But until the 1Dx comes out which is 4mp, and the 1Ds holds a price above $6,000 until April, I am NOT buying any more Nikkors, unless the FF digital F6 announces on time, which I think is an impossibility!

I am sending my family based I-485 on May 1. currently i am on h1b . My h1b approval (I-797A) is valid till April 15, 2009. my h1b extension is already pending with USCIS. My Question is :::----

Me and my husband left US on AP, which is valid until nxt year. We both were working on valid H1's until we left. We dont want to go for stamping and will use AP on our arrival at the POE. We havent applied for EAD when we left. Is it Ok for us to apply for EAD once we are back in US or is it ok to apply for H1's again once we r back. In both cases whether we go for h1 or EAD, can we start wroking rt a way or do we need approval first.

If you are planning to continue working for the same H1 employer when you return on AP, then you can start working immediately. If you intend to change employers, then either your new employer needs to file a H1 Change of Employer petition and you can start working once you get it approved OR you can apply EAD and start working when its approved.

We filed 2 - 485 applications for each of us(One is primary in one set(Husband) and the other one is primary as second application(wife)). Both of our lawyers said it is ok to file like this. Once we get the 485 approval in few years we have to withdraw the sencond application.

It's up to the employer if he wants to keep you as an employee and has the right to cancel your H1 if he likes to do so. Just because you left the country doesnt mean that your H1 becomes invalid, but again its up to the employer.
